EP kicks off each year with an engaging lecture about entrepreneurship. Following the lecture is a reception for students to interact and exchange ideas with fellow students, our keynote speaker, faculty, and alumni. Food and refreshments will be served. This year we are pleased to feature Doug Lowenstein, a Brown alum and Senior Vice President of the internal strategy group of Capital One where he will be discussing innovation. Since joining Capital One in 1998, Doug has played a variety of roles related to strategy for Capital One. He has led strategy for many diversification initiatives including strategically leveraging Capital One's venture capital activities and developing early Capital One Internet initiatives. He also led the strategy development for several Capital One transactions including PeopleFirst, eSmartLoan, and Dealertrack. Doug also led the initial strategy development in Banking ultimately resulting in the acquisitions of Hibernia and North Fork. Doug also led strategy for GFS from 2003 until 2007. Doug joined the Capital One Strategy team in 2002 where he also leads the day to day management of the group. Prior to joining Capital One, Doug was a case team leader at Corporate Decisions, Inc, a growth strategy firm that was acquired by Mercer Management Consulting in 1998. Doug was also a business analyst at Advent International, a leading venture capital and private equity firm based in Boston. Doug holds a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Business Economics from Brown University, and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management with concentrations in Marketing, Strategy, and Finance.
